Welcome to Feng Shui with Lurrae

 “In his or her life,

each person can take one of two attitudes,

to build or to plant.

Builders may take years over their tasks,

but one day they will finish what they are doing.

Then they will stop, hemmed in by their own walls,

Life becomes meaningless once the building is finished.

Those who plant suffer the storms

and the seasons and rarely rest.

Unlike a building a garden never stops growing.

And by its constant demands

on the gardener’s attentions,

It makes of the gardener’s life a great adventure.”

It is on this Summer Solstice, June 21, 2011, that I launch Feng Shui with Lurrae and Blog. The seed has been germinating for many years but blossoms today. Only time will tell what this garden will produce, but most of all, I hope to inspire others through helpful suggestions to create a new path toward their goals and aspirations in life based on the design principles of the ancient art and science of Feng Shui. Plant a new row, my friends, in your garden of life… and see what beauty you can create.

I dedicate this website and blog in memory of my dear friend Sara Garment. I met Sara at the Mountain School of Feng Shui held in Tribeca, NYC in the mid 1990’s. Sara expressed a frustration to get out of her apartment and to get to appointments on time, especially to a class that I was due to teach. After asking if it were her food or her clothes that interfered with her ability to leave her apartment, she said she felt she lived in a vortex and was not able to get out of her apartment no matter how hard she tried.

I suggested she sweep a path from her bed to the door nine times in order that she might create a strong and clear path to the exit. This suggestion was successful. Sara arrived cheerful to my class promptly, and soon moved about her neighborhood with more fluidity.

I include this example as it illustrates two fundamental principles of Feng Shui, – intent, and – the power of chi or energy to flow where we direct it, by will or by placements. In this case it also created the beginning of a dear friendship between the remarkable Sara and I for the remainder of her life of which I will always be grateful.
